State Sen.-Elect John Kennedy talks 2015 legislative session

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State Senator-Elect John Kennedy says he has done his prep work and is ready to head up to the Capitol. He sat down with 41NBC’s Amanda Castro to talk about the upcoming legislative session.

Kennedy (R-District 18) says he is excited to represent his district. He tells 41NBC he has learned as much as he can about the issues lawmakers will face in 2015.

The new senator says some big topics this year include legalizing the cannabis oil bill. He adds transportation is going to be big, especially when it comes down to funding and where the money is going to come from. He adds with the deepening of the Savannah Harbor there will be more transportation opportunities in Middle Georgia.

Governor Nathan Deal recently appointed Kennedy as a floor leader for this year’s session. He says he is very honored and humbled.
