State Representative Larry O’Neal Talks About Upcoming Session
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — With a brand new multi-million dollar facility coming to Warner Robins and money set aside to fix encroachment, State Representative Larry O’Neal is confident the future is bright for Robins Air Force Base.
When he heads back to work on Monday in Atlanta, his number one priority is balancing that budget.
“In some ways some people might consider it dull and monotonous, but dull and monotonous is a good thing,” said O’Neal.
For O’Neal, his focus this year will also be close to home.
“When this group called the BRAC realignment people come around, we want them to see the Gateway Institution from the gates at Robins Air Force Base, so they can see the commitment of this community, the entire middle georgia community, not just Warner Robins but the entire community to the military as they judge whether or not they want to send more military missions,” said O’Neal.
The Gateway project, which O’Neal described as a one-stop-shop for veterans, especially those returning from active duty, is already fully funded with help from the state.
There’s another project O’Neal is interested in as well. He’s working to get Highway 96 extended, to provide an eastern entrance to the base.
O’Neal, who’s getting ready to serve his 13th year in the House of Representatives, is running for re-election.
He said he enjoys serving the his constituents, and would like to continue being their voice in Atlanta.
