State Rep. Nikki Randall announces resignation; endorses former state senator

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State Representative Nikki Randall announced her resignation and will not be seeking re-election for House District 142.

In a statement, state Representative Randall said:

“I am extremely proud of the work I have accomplished alongside my colleagues to improve the lives of Georgians and move Macon forward, after much thoughts and prayers, I believe my work here is done, and I look forward to the next chapter.”

Randall says she’s endorsing former state Senator Miriam Paris to fill her seat. Paris tells 41NBC she’s looking to continue what state Representative Randall started.

“I think it’s been a tremendously progressive move and has worked out well for us. You know just making it where we’re more attractive to industry is a big thing that I want to look at,” Paris said.

Paris qualified for the district Thursday.

General primary elections are on May 24th.
