State investigating Laurens County church fire

DUDLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fire investigators are trying to figure out how and why a fire started Monday night at a church in Dudley.

It started at about 8:30 p.m. at the Byrd Hill Baptist Church on Old Hawkinsville Highway.

The church was heavily damaged.

Both the Laurens County Fire Department and the state are investigating.
