MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Pink Provisions Preview Party will usher in the 2024 International Cherry Blossom Festival on Friday, March 15.
This event will mark the beginning of the 10-day Pink Provisions Trail, a showcase of pink-themed food and drink specials from participating Macon-Bibb businesses.
Visit Macon Director of Marketing Marisa Rodgers says last year’s trail led to nearly 500 Tour Macon app downloads. The Pink Provisions Trail, which debuted in 2023, is available as a free download in the Tour Macon app via GooglePlay or Apple app stores.
“Last year, we had almost 40 pink-themed items from 28 businesses submitted in the spirit of Macon’s largest event of the year,” Rodgers said. “It was great to see Macon businesses thriving during the Festival with hundreds of votes on these pink-themed goodies!”
The Pink Provisions Trail guide aims to direct festival-goers and locals to nearly two dozen restaurants offering special menu items celebrating the cherry blossom theme.
“The Pink Provision Preview Party’s mission is to kick-off opening weekend and Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival – giving locals, our visitors, bus and group tours, visiting writers and media, and local press a chance to see what can be found in Macon during our favorite time of year, even beyond Downtown Macon!” Visit Macon Marketing & Special Events Manager Lucy Hughes said. “Patrons of that evening’s ball will also have time to stop in if they choose! Being a first-time event it is really hard to predict how many samples will be needed for businesses, but our businesses are excited to try! Be sure to get there early so you can taste it all!”
The Preview Party on Poplar Street, from 3 to 7 p.m. between MLK Jr. Blvd. and Third Street, will feature small bites and signature cocktails local establishments. Attendees can enjoy live music from a jazz ensemble led by Sam Stephens of 100.9 The Creek FM and browse artisan booths.
Tickets are available for pre-purchase online with several incentive specials. Pre-sale ends Friday at noon.
Each featured food or drink menu item will be priced by participating restaurants, with prices ranging between $1 and $10. Tickets can be purchased for $1 with incentive specials with each increment of purchase.
Visit Macon says it has invited travel writers to sample the offerings and vote for their favorite, introducing a Media’s Choice Award.
Participants are encouraged to vote for their favorites in categories including alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages and food.
