SPLOST smoothing greens, improving Bowden Golf Course
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Golfers at Bowden Golf Course will start seeing some upgrades on the links.
About $300,000 in SPLOST funds is being used to improve the greens, bunkers and fairways.
“Any improvements they do out here is gonna be good,” Donald Braswell, who was out golfing said. “It’s gonna give us a different view to the golf course period. So I think it’s gonna be good, any way that they decide to go.”
Commissioner Elaine Lucas is leading the charge – Bowden is in her district.
“As a commissioner, this is one of those quality of life issues, one of those things that we will be able to see over the next year,” Lucas said. ” We know that over time things wear out and we’ve gotta improve them.”
Lucas is also encouraging the county to hire a marketing professional to help get more people to Bowden, and have the historic golf course host tournaments.
“We wanna let more people know what a treasure this is,” she said.
Braswell is excited to see the improvements made over the next year.
“I saw a little subtle movements they did with the fairway today , how they gonna curve them differently,” Braswell said. “I”m already excited to see how the finished product is going to be.”
