CORDELE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Officials have postponed SpeedFest 2026 at Cordele Motor Speedway, citing worsening weather forecasts and travel concerns ahead of the annual late model showcase.

In a news release Friday night, officials with SpeedFest, the Southern Super Series, and Cordele Motor Speedway said forecasts continue to trend unfavorably for Saturday in Cordele, while a winter storm system is expected to impact large portions of the country. Organizers said the incoming weather raised concerns for teams and fans traveling long distances to compete or attend.

“This was a very tough call,” promoter Bob Sargent said. “SpeedFest has traditionally been a great event for us, and with the level of talent that was entered—including full-time NASCAR drivers from the Cup Series down to the Truck Series, along with some of the best ASA Super Late Model and Pro Late Model competitors—we were extremely excited to get on track.”

Officials said the decision was especially difficult given the strength of this year’s pre-entry list and the excitement surrounding the event. Drivers entered for the weekend included Keelan Harvick and full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver Carson Hocevar.

Just under two hours before announcing the postponement, the track posted on Facebook that officials were closely monitoring weather conditions and communicating with all necessary parties, adding that a final decision would be made within the hour.

SpeedFest officials say they are now working to finalize a new date for the event. Additional details, including an updated schedule, ticket information, and competitor guidance, are expected to be announced soon.

Fans and teams are encouraged to follow official SpeedFest, Cordele Motor Speedway, and Track Enterprises communication channels for updates.

SpeedFest has drawn national attention in past years, with previous Super Late Model winners including Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott.
