NASCAR stars racing at SpeedFest 2024 in Cordele this weekend

CORDELE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  Four NASCAR stars will be part of the action at SpeedFest 2024 at Crisp Motorsports Park’s 3/8 mile Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele this weekend.

Ross Chastain, Josh Berry, Brandon Jones and Jake Garcia will compete against the best in Late Model short track racing, including two-time SpeedFest defending champion Bubba Pollard.

Chastain, who drives for Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, will pilot a Pro Late Model for the first time in more than a decade. Berry, who’s set for his rookie season with Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series, will compete in the Super Late Model race.

Jones, a Georgia native who drives for JR Motorsports in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series, will compete in the Pro Late Model and Super Late Model race, and NASCAR Crafttman Truck Series driver Jake Garcia, also a Georgia native, will compete in the Super Late Model race.

Macon native Benjamin Jones will compete in the Pro Late Model race.

Four divisions will be in action on Saturday: Inex Bandoleros (15 laps), Inex Legends (25 laps), Pro Late Models (100 laps) and Super Late Models (150 laps).

Here’s the schedule of events:

Friday, January 19:

  • Practice – 12 p.m.
  • Qualifying – 4:45 p.m.

Saturday, January 20:

  • Grandstands open – 10 a.m.
  • Autograph session – 11:30 a.m.
  • Feature racing –  1 p.m.

Advance tickets for SpeedFest start at $25, compared to $30 at the gate on race day. Tickets are available here.

SpeedFest, which began in 2005, has been held at Cordele’s Watermelon Capital Speedway since 2012. Over the years, it has attracted notable motorsports names like Kyle Busch and Georgia natives Chase Elliott and David Ragan.
