Sparta Police searching for man accused of firing gun near apartments

SPARTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Sparta Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding a man accused of firing a gun near an apartment complex over the weekend.

According to a bulletin from the Sparta Police Department, officers are looking for 33-year-old Courtney Fredrick Dixon in connection to the incident that happened Saturday, July 12, at Heritage Manor Apartments.

The department says Dixon faces charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm near a highway or street. According to the bulletin, state arrest warrants have been obtained.

Police describe Dixon as 6-feet tall, 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. They say he is considered armed and dangerous.
