Coroner: Child dies after being found unresponsive in Macon pool

Deputies say the child was found unresponsive Friday morning.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 4-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool Friday morning at a south Macon home, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the call came into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 9:19 a.m.

Deputies say the child was found unresponsive in a pool and was taken to Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital.

Jones says the child was later pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.

The sheriff’s office says the drowning remains under investigation.
