Solar power coming to Monroe Co.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Solar power is one step closer to becoming a reality in Monroe County.

Commissioners approved the plan to build a solar farm at tonight’s meeting.

A company called Catsink is constructing the farm.

It will be located on Camellia Plant Road in Juliette.
Monroe County Commissioner Mike Bilderback says it should produce revenue for the county.

“We enjoyed seeing development that fits the county,” said Commissioner Mike Bilderback. “And I think this fits the county. It’s low-impact as far as being a nuisance to sight and sound–anything like that. So when you get a silent industry like this, it’s a win for everybody.”

Catsink picked Monroe County because commissioners made the process a smooth transition for the company.
