Simmons, Bartholomew lead Tattnall to Game 3 win, GHSA title
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Logan Simmons pitched a complete game shutout and Cory Bartholomew hit two home runs as Tattnall Square Academy cruised to a 5-0 win over Hebron Christian Monday to win the GHSA Class A Private Championship.
The Trojans and Lions were playing for a third time after the two split a doubleheader on Saturday.
Nick DiPonzio got the scoring started for Tattnall in the first inning with a solo homer.
In the fourth, Bartholomew hit the first of his two solo shots to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead. His homer in the sixth closed out Tattnall’s scoring.
Simmons gave up just two hits in seven innings. It’s the Trojans’ ninth baseball title since 2000 but their first in the GHSA.
