Showers and storms likely Thursday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A surface trough will bring some rain and possibly thunderstorms to Middle Georgia Thursday afternoon.
This Evening
It’s been a sunny afternoon and conditions will remain clear heading into the overnight hours. However, after midnight clouds will roll in from the southwest. By sunrise tomorrow it will be mostly cloudy across the region. Low temperatures will be in the upper 40s for most of the region with wind expected from the southwest around 5 mph. No rain is expected tonight.
Tomorrow
A mostly cloudy day is expected with scattered showers likely over the back half of the day. Highs will mainly reach the lower 70s. Rain initially will be light, however some spots could see heavier rain than others. It is also likely that not everywhere in Middle Georgia will see rain as well. A few of the showers could become thunderstorms. A couple of the western counties could see some stronger winds, but outside of that severe weather is not expected.
A couple of showers may linger into tomorrow night, however all rain will subside by Friday morning. Despite this mostly cloudy skies will hang around. Expect lows in the low to mid 50s ahead of Friday morning.
Friday and Beyond
Friday will be mostly cloudy with a slim chance for a shower as conditions start to get muggier around the Peach State. This is all ahead of a powerful low pressure system that will drive a cold front through the southeast over the weekend.
Strong to severe storms are expected from this front and it will likely arrive in Middle Georgia overnight Saturday into Sunday. Locals need to be able to get alerts and need to stay weather aware!
