Sheriff: Multiple arrests made in Taylor County fraud investigation

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office says a covert operation into fraud has led to multiple arrests in the county.

BUTLER, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office says a “covert operation” into fraud on Tuesday led to multiple arrests in the county.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said the investigation, which began in Taylor County, expanded to several counties across Georgia. The agency coordinated efforts with the U.S. Marshals Service, which then worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“All agencies are working closely together to complete this operation and to protect all citizens,” Sheriff John Sawyer said in the post.

The sheriff’s office has not released details on the number of arrests or the nature of the fraud. 41NBC has reached out to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office for more information.
