Sheriff: Human remains found in Crawford County identified as missing Bibb County woman

Law enforcement has identified human remains found last month in a wooded area of Crawford County as those of a missing Bibb County woman, according to a Tuesday news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Law enforcement has identified human remains found last month in a wooded area of Crawford County as those of a missing Bibb County woman, according to a Tuesday news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

The release says Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about human remains discovered off Lower Hartley Bridge Road on February 2. A deputy met with the person who located the remains, the release said.

Sheriff Lewis S. Walker requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to take the lead on the case. The remains were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for analysis.

According to the release, on Monday, March 24, the remains were identified as 56-year-old Gina Jo Ratliff of Bibb County. Ratliff was last seen by family on July 28, 2024.

The investigation is ongoing.  The sheriff’s office has not provided additional details.
