Former Macon-Bibb leader Seth Clark suspends lieutenant governor campaign
Clark said shifting personal circumstances and family priorities led him to suspend his campaign weeks after launching it.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Former Macon-Bibb County Mayor Pro Tempore Seth Clark announced Friday he is suspending his campaign for Georgia lieutenant governor, citing personal circumstances and family priorities.
In a news release, Clark said “personal circumstances have shifted in ways that make the year ahead increasingly uncertain,” adding that his “most immediate calling is to my family.”
Clark launched his campaign in January after resigning from the Macon-Bibb County Commission and stepping down as executive director of the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative.
He said at the time that his campaign would focus on lowering the cost of living for working families and bringing what he described as a compassion-driven approach to state government.
Clark thanked supporters, volunteers and campaign staff in his announcement.
“I am profoundly thankful to everyone who stepped forward — not simply in support of a candidate, but in service to their neighbors and communities,” Clark said.
Clark said he plans to wind down campaign operations over the coming weeks and will continue supporting candidates and causes aligned with his values.
Clark had been running in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor. Other declared Democratic candidates include state Sen. Josh McLaurin and Richard Wright.
The Republican primary includes several declared candidates. Incumbent Lt. Gov. Burt Jones is running for governor and will not seek reelection.
Georgia’s primary election is scheduled for May 19. The general election is set for November 3, with a runoff scheduled for December 1 if needed.
