Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue talks with 4-H students in Perry

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Perry got a special visitor Friday morning to celebrate National 4-H Week.

Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue visited the Georgia National Fair and talked with 4-H students about the bright future of agriculture. Perdue believes the program is teaching students how to live and serve others in the community.

Several students shared their stories on how they served others and impacted their lives. Perdue says the leadership, service and connections will keep the communities around us in better shape.

Perdue says,” It’s encouraging to see young people have a heart for service but that’s essentially what 4-H is all about, a heart for service and building in a culture for a lifetime of how to be a great citizen.”

Some students say having a chance to speak with Perdue gives them the confident to keep doing what they’re doing to help others.
