SEC women move up start times for second straight day

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – The Southeastern Conference is moving up start times for a second straight day at its women’s basketball tournament as a winter storm continues to bear down on central Arkansas.

The league says evening games Thursday between Missouri and Georgia, as well as Vanderbilt against No. 12 Kentucky, will begin at 5 p.m. CST. The original schedule called for a break after the first two games of the day, with the evening session beginning at 6 p.m.

Arkansas and Mississippi open play on Thursday at noon, followed by Auburn against No. 18 Texas A&M.

Wednesday’s tournament games were also moved up two hours because of the approaching weather, with forecasters saying the area could receive 2-4 inches of snow and sleet.

Auburn defeated Florida 71-49 and Vanderbilt downed Alabama 66-56 in the opening round of the tournament.
