Scattered storms likely this evening, some again tomorrow

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Scattered storms are likely around Middle Georgia Monday evening and isolated storms are likely Tuesday.
This Evening
Storms have begun in the southern parts of the region and will be expanding northward this evening. No severe weather is expected, but heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and a few strong wind gusts are all possible with these storms. They will bring a much needed cooling effect to those who see them as afternoon heat indexes have been north of 100 degrees.
Tonight thunderstorm activity will dwindle but showers may linger past midnight. Overhead skies will be mostly cloudy while at the surface it will be calm and muggy, and areas that receive rainfall this evening will be candidates for overnight fog. Low temperatures will be in the mid 70s.
Tomorrow
It will be a cloudy start before some sunlight breaks through later in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid to upper 90s with heat indexes likely falling in the 105-110 degree range. Wind will be gentle out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.
Storms will likely begin to pop up in the middle of the afternoon, becoming most widespread during the sunset hours. No severe weather is expected but any storm can have heavy rain and lightning/thunder. Overnight will be mostly cloudy and calm with lows in the mid 70s expected once again. An isolated shower or two cannot be ruled out during the overnight hours, however the odds are low.
Wednesday and Beyond
Wednesday will be partly cloudy for most of Middle Georgia, however the southeastern counties will likely see more cloud cover along with increased rain odds. Highs will continue to reach the mid to upper 90s in the afternoon, however thanks to a weak cold front the humidity will drop a bit for Wednesday night, Thursday, and the first half of Friday. More oppressive hot and humid conditions will be back for the weekend.
The Tropics have quieted down for now as Beryl bears down on Texas/Louisiana. Per the NHC no activity is expected in the next 7 days.
