Salvation Army hosts annual charity golf tournament in Macon
Sixth annual event at River North Golf Club draws 35 teams

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Salvation Army’s annual charity golf tournament is underway in Macon, bringing teams together to support local programs.
This year marks the sixth annual event, held at River North Golf Club. Organizers said the goal of the tournament is to help fund Salvation Army youth programs.
The event is being run by volunteers from the local community alongside the Salvation Army, with participants also taking part in raffle activities after the tournament.
Captain Paula Blevins, Central Georgia Integration Coordinator for the Salvation Army, said the event has drawn strong participation.
“This is a huge success. We have 35 teams. As a matter of fact, we have only one flight, and we had to cut it off at 35. So next year we are hoping for even more. To maybe have two flights of teams. So we’ve had a great response from the community,” Blevins said.
Blevins also said there is an ongoing need for volunteers, not only for events like the tournament, but for other Salvation Army programs, including shelters, church programs and summer camps.
