Rutland Hurricanes looking to get back into post-season play for 2014
“Each year I’ve been there, we’ve talked about growing,” Collins said, “Last year we needed to take it to the next step.”
It’s going to be a challenge for the 2014 Hurricanes on offense, with only four players from last year’s team returning. One gaping hole is from wide receiver Shekenneth Williams, who is now at the University of Georgia. Despite his loss, Collins is instead focusing on the players that will still be suiting up for him, including quarterback Timori Northcutt and running back T.J. Faulks.
Last year’s defensive squad allowed 26.4 points per game last season, and will have six starters returning for this season. LB Jimel Dean will be one of them, and was the team’s leading tackler in 2013. Coach Collins believes if his team can continue to play good defense, they’ll have a chance at winning football games, “We’re ahead of schedule this summer… hopefully we’re looking for good things.”
Rutland’s first game will be August 29th against Westside.
