GSP: Man arrested after deadly hit-and-run in Macon
Troopers say the driver left the scene but was later located.

UPDATE: Coroner Leon Jones identified the man who died after being struck as 24-year-old Darien Cato.
Jones says Cato’s family has been notified.
ORIGINAL STORY:
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man died Sunday night after being hit by a vehicle on Riverside Drive, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
A GSP spokesperson said a trooper responded at 9:05 p.m. Sunday to a vehicle-pedestrian crash in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive. The spokesperson said a Honda Civic struck a man who was in the roadway. The driver ran from the scene before troopers arrived.
Forsyth-based troopers canvassed the area and later found the driver, who GSP identified as Francisco Chan Garcia. Troopers did not say where he was found.
The crash investigation is ongoing. GSP said the victim’s identity is unknown, and his family has not been notified.
Coroner Leon Jones said the man was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. He said the victim did not have identification with him at the scene.
Bibb County Jail records show Chan-Garcia, who is 22, is charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended or revoked and hit and run.
