Ribbon cutting held for Bayside Village
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – People looking to recover from mental illness, addiction or living with disabilities now have a new, safe affordable place to live.
River Edge Behavioral Health Center held a ribbon cutting and open house event at Bayside Village Wednesday afternoon. The complex has 16 one bedroom energy efficient apartments that are available to individuals seeking help.
Chief Executive Officer of River Edge Behavioral Health Center Shannon Terrell Gordon says, housing is just one of the supports that are offered. This assistance should get people on the right track.
“It’s easier to achieve and maintain recovery when you have a safe place to lay your head. When you’re worried about survival, you don’t have much energy to focus on what I need to do to stay clean and sober,” Gordon adds.
Bayside Village is the fifth development River Edge has completed.
Macon-Bibb County and The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development partnered to make the long term housing initiative possible.
Individuals can access housing through engagement with their case manager.
