Residents Disappointed by Braves’ Planned Move
ATLANTA (AP) – Some residents of the area around Turner Field said they were shocked and surprised to hear of the Atlanta Braves’ announcement that they plan to build a new stadium in the suburbs.
Tracey Long has lived several blocks from Turner Field for about 10 years and says she’s very involved with her neighborhood. She says she and other neighbors were disappointed to hear the news.
She says she hopes the announcement is a ploy to get the city and county to offer a deal to get them to stay.
Kristen Rogers, whose townhouse is within view of the stadium, says she bought the property because she thought its value would rise because of Turner Field and mixed-use development that’s been discussed for the area. She says she might consider selling now.
