Republican candidate Dr. Takosha Swan campaigns for Georgia lieutenant governor seat

Her platform includes proposals to eliminate property taxes for seniors, reduce taxes on everyday necessities and support small businesses across the state.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Republican candidate Dr. Takosha Swan is campaigning across Georgia as she seeks the state’s lieutenant governor seat in the 2026 election.

Her platform includes proposals to eliminate property taxes for seniors, reduce taxes on everyday necessities and support small businesses across the state.

She also emphasizes education reform, including expanding trade and skills-based programs to prepare students for careers and entrepreneurship. Swan’s campaign highlights the importance of creating opportunities for young people to build businesses and remain in Georgia’s workforce.

Health care access, particularly in rural areas, is another central focus. Swan has pointed to hospital closures across the state and is advocating for increased investment in smaller health care facilities to serve communities that may not support full-scale hospitals.

In addition to her policy priorities, Swan has stressed the need for stronger communication between political parties. She is campaigning on a message of unity, aiming to bridge divides within the state Legislature while representing a broader range of voices.

Swan brings experience from her service in the U.S. Army and Georgia Army National Guard, including deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She also served as a state-appointed public officer on the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Board, representing hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families.

The lieutenant governor’s race is drawing multiple candidates from both parties, as current Lt. Gov. Burt Jones is not seeking reelection. The position plays a key role in shaping legislation as the presiding officer of the Georgia State Senate.

Swan continues to travel across the state, meeting voters as she builds support ahead of the election.
