Record warmth likely on Christmas

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Afternoon highs may be record setters in several Middle Georgia locations on Christmas Day.
This Evening
A partly sunny afternoon will give way to a partly cloudy night for this Christmas Eve. Santa will likely be a bit surprised by how warm it is when he arrives overnight to deliver gifts. The wind will remain light from the west-northwest as most low temperatures stay above 50 degrees. Some patchy fog will be possible rolling into Christmas morning.
Christmas Day
It will be mostly sunny for Christmas with plenty of warmth as many spots in Middle Georgia will reach 80 degrees (the image above is likely underestimating potential highs as has been the case all week). This likely means several new record highs for December 25th around the region. The wind will still be light out of the west-northwest.
Overnight will be mostly clear as the wind becomes more westerly overall. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 50s. Once again fog will be possible if not likely around the region ahead of the sunrise Friday.
Friday and Beyond
A weak cold front moving through the southeast will return highs into the upper 70s for most of the region Friday under partly sunny skies, however the warmest locations may still reach 80. The wind will be a bit breezier from the west-southwest as gusts could push upwards of 20 mph. Conditions will remain warm into the weekend as more cloud cover will begin to move in. A few showers will be possible Sunday and Monday as a cold front early next week brings more seasonal conditions.
