MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A new Raising Cane’s restaurant with a drive-thru has been proposed for 4951 Riverside Drive, across from The Shoppes at River Crossing in Macon.

Raising Cane’s is a fast-food chain specializing in chicken fingers, fries and its signature Cane’s sauce. The company operates hundreds of locations nationwide with seven in Georgia: Athens, Buford, Dacula, Duluth, McDonough, Snellville and Woodstock. According to the restaurant’s website, more than 100 stores opened in 2024 alone.

According to documents submitted to the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission, Kimley-Horn, on behalf of Raising Cane’s Restaurant, L.L.C., filed a conditional use application to allow a drive-thru restaurant on the Riverside Drive property. The application appears on the commission’s draft agenda for June 9.

Plans show the restaurant would include a 4,250-square-foot building, 70 seats and 39 parking spaces.

A previous proposal to build a Jim ‘N Nick’s and Miller’s Ale House restaurant at the same location was approved in 2023 but has not moved forward.
