Raises are coming for some Bibb County employees

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Bibb county school board voted 7-1 to approve the recently created salary study.

The salary study puts some 1,500 Bibb county school district employees in categories that determine their salary raise.

Years of service and daily hours worked were the main categories in the study.

This is the first raise for these employees in six years.

School board member Tom Hudson was the only school board member that voted against the salary study.

He said, “I am not against raises for our employees, what I am against is the process that raises were given.”

Some classified employees were at the meeting and said they were satisfied with the salary study.

“We are finally going to get an opportunity to have an actual pay scale where people be treated fairly and equal from the lowest to the highest or the highest to the lowest” said Truant and Transfer Officer Rhoda Batieste.

Other highlights of Thursday’s meeting was the approval of 12 new maintenance vehicles and one campus police vehicle, new policies, and student programs.
