MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Flood Watch for Middle Georgia was extended through Wednesday evening as more widespread rain appears inevitable.

This Evening

Overcast skies will remain over Middle Georgia as off and on rain and thunderstorms will continue through the evening and into tonight. The Flood Watch has been extended through 8 PM EDT tomorrow evening. The Ocmulgee River is under a Flood Warning through Friday at 8 PM EDT. The river could crest at 21+ feet later this week.

Overnight lingering showers and storms will persist as the wind stays pretty calm from the northeast. Lows will largely be in the upper 60s however a few lower 70s cannot be ruled out. Fog and mist will also be possible.

Tomorrow

Mostly cloudy to overcast skies are expected around the region again with more rounds of storms possible through the day Wednesday. Flash flooding odds will become more a of a concern as well. Highs will climb into the low to mid 80s for most of the region. Wind will be light and variable.

Overnight will be mostly cloudy with isolated showers and storms remaining. Lows will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s accompanied by a light wind from the northeast. Fog and mist will again be possible.

Thursday and Beyond

Rain chances may dip slightly on Thursday but at least half the region will likely still see storms. Low pressure churning off the Georgia/South Carolina coast will continue to fuel more storm chances as the work week draws to a close and the weekend begins. Unfortunately the weekend looks similar to the last one although temperatures should be a bit warmer.

Watching the Tropics

The area of concern off the Georgia/South Carolina coast now has 10% odds to develop into a depression within the next 48 hours and 40% odds to develop into a depression over the next 7 days. The other area of interest in the Atlantic has 50% odds to develop over the next 7 days. As mentioned yesterday, Tropical Storm Dexter will stay out to sea as it drifts northeast.
