Rain chances down to begin the new work week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Ample sunshine and limited rain odds are expected as the new week gets rolling.
This Evening
It’s been a sunny Monday with no rain to this point. Most locations around Middle Georgia shouldn’t see any rain today, however an isolated shower or storm will be possible through the evening and into tonight. Expect low temperatures to be near average (lower 70s) as wind stays light from the east-southeast.
Tomorrow
Tuesday will be partly sunny with a few more clouds in the afternoon than the morning. Less than half the region should see rain however a few storms and showers will be possible over the latter half of the day. Wind will be light from the northeast at around 5-10 mph. Temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s with heat indexes pushing into the upper 90s and low triple digits.
Overnight skies should be mostly clear with a chance for a lingering shower or storm early on. Wind will stay out of the northeast with lows largely in the lower 70s.
Wednesday and Beyond
The rain odds will still be pretty low on Wednesday and Thursday as skies will be mostly sunny with highs into the low to mid 90s. Real feels should again hover around 100 degrees. Friday, however, will see more widespread rain chances as a cold front approaches from the north. This could lead to a bit of a dip in temperatures over the weekend.
Watching the Tropics
Hurricane Erin is currently a Category 4 Storm on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale with sustained winds of 140 mph. While Georgia should avoid impacts overall there will be increased winds and waves along the coastline. If anywhere on the US East Coast is going to see more dangerous impacts it will be the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Further east in the Atlantic another tropical wave is working on developing into a depression with 60% odds over the next 7 days. The next name on the Atlantic List for 2025 is Fernand.
