It’s a partly to mostly cloudy day around Middle Georgia, and Wednesday has already seen way less rain than the first two days of this work week. The trend with the clouds should carry into tonight as things will overall be partly cloudy. A stray storm or two cannot be ruled out, but much of the region will stay dry heading into tonight. The Flood Watch across the region was also cancelled. The River Flood Warning for the Ocmulgee will continue into Friday night, however. The river is expected to crest at almost 22 feet high (minor flood stage) sometime Thursday morning.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies are likely Thursday as highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s around the region. A stray 90 cannot be ruled out. Storm chances will stay reduced with about 1/5 of the region seeing any rain activity through the day. Wind will remain light from the northeast.

Overnight will be partly cloudy with lows largely expected in the lower 70s, or a couple degrees below average. A few spots should still drop below 60. Wind speed and direction will remain unchanged. Fog will be possible leading up to Friday morning.

Friday and Beyond

Rain chances should begin to climb some again Friday, however odds will increase even further into the weekend. Temperatures should climb into the mid to upper 80s during this timeframe for most of Middle Georgia. Low pressure churning off the coast of Georgia/South Carolina and its associated trough should spur on some rain chances and keep plenty of clouds around as well. While the odds for it to become a tropical depression have dropped some, it still could develop going forward. More on this below.

Odds for the low off the coast of GA/SC have dropped to 30% over the next 7 days. It is expected to move slowly to the northeast after coming close to a landfall on the coast of SC/NC. Further east in the Atlantic another area of interest now has 10% odds to become a depression in the next 48 hours and 60% odds over the next 7 days. It also is expected to stay out to sea long term.
