Rain arrives overnight; sticks around Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An incoming low pressure system from the west will bring rain to Middle Georgia tonight and tomorrow.

It’s been a pleasant day around Middle Georgia with temperatures finally reaching or climbing above average for this time of year. The wind has been a bit breezy from the southwest with gusts hanging in the 15-20 mph range.

Strong breezes from the southwest will continue through tonight ahead of the next cold front. Rain should begin for the northern counties a bit before midnight. Any rain overnight will be light. There is no chance for winter precipitation as low temperatures will largely be in the upper 40s.

Tomorrow

Rain from overnight should taper off around sunrise however the cold front associated with the aforementioned low will bring another wave of heavier rain across Middle Georgia throughout much of the day on Wednesday. Temperatures will be a bit cooler than Tuesday with highs largely expected in the mid to upper 50s. The wind will remain out of the southwest while rain is ongoing with gusts reaching as high as 25 mph.

Overnight the wind will shift to out of the northwest at around 5-12 mph with gusts still pushing to around 20 mph. Temperatures should drop down towards freezing with a couple of spots getting there by sunrise Thursday morning.

Thursday and Beyond

Cloud cover will remain pretty dominant throughout much of the day Thursday before some clearing occurs in the evening. Fully sunny skies will be back starting Friday and a sunny and seasonal pattern will carry through the coming weekend.
