26-year-old woman killed in wrong-way crash on I-75 in Macon
Bibb County officials say Quintoriah Jones, 26, was driving north in the southbound lanes when her car struck another vehicle head-on.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A 26-year-old woman was killed Saturday night in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 75 in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones identified the woman as Quintoriah Jones.
The crash happened on I-75 south near Rocky Creek Road, between Rocky Creek Road and Eisenhower Parkway, and was reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center just before 10:20 p.m.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that witnesses told them it appeared Jones was driving a white Toyota Camry north in the southbound lanes when the car struck a burgundy Ford Fusion head-on.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics took the 38-year-old male driver of the Ford, along with a 39-year-old male passenger and a 40-year-old female passenger, to a local hospital.
The driver and female passenger were listed in stable condition. The male passenger was listed in critical condition.
The southbound lanes of I-75 were closed following the crash and reopened shortly after midnight.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the collision.
