Qualifying Officially Ends for State Senate District 26 and House District 136

The Special Election for State Senate District 26 and House District 139 is starting to take shape.

Two Democrats will campaign for the open House seat, Dr. James Beverly and Dr. Anissa Jones. Both say·creating industry in Middle Georgia·is a top priority in this job.

“We’re going to strengthen our education system so that they can know that they have qualified employees that they can hire for their business in that district,” says Jones.

“Jobs is number one. In this economy we have to create the incentives and the structure to get jobs in this area.”

Fixing the economy is also a hot topic in the three-way race for the open senate seat. The candidates, Bobby Gale (R), David Lucas (D), and Miriam Paris (D)·say this is number one on their list.

“I plan to fight hard for the citizens of this area to bring good jobs with good benefits,” says Paris.

“Number one, you’ve got to talk about industries as far as Twiggs and Wilkinson,” says Lucas.

“We have the capability of becoming a great city for commercialists,” says Gale.
