Quail Run Elementary ‘Read In’ Urges Kids to Read

The community “read in” at Quail Run Elementary welcomes storytellers from all walks of life.

Second grader Kaitlyn Deen says, “I like people reading to me.”

Deen enjoys hearing the different stories, but says she also likes reading alone.

“I like reading too.”

“We look forward to coming and doing this to make the joy of reading for the children and show them how much fun it can be to read,” says Stephen Thublin with the Houston County Board of Education.

Thublin continues to say “I read all my life and it’s something I still do and I am a life long reader.”

Parents, service workers, and other community members visited with students to read, snack, and share some laughs.

Fifth grader Cameron Johnson says, “We just like hearing different kind of books from people who help our community.”

Dean Conley, a Quail Run parent shows his support for the read-in by volunteering. He says it’s also a way to show his kids reading is important.

“Reading is so important you learn so much just by reading that you can’t get elsewhere,” says Conley.

The community “read in” is held once a year at Quail Run Elementary. This year’s event included more than a 100 volunteers.
