Pulaski County Schools: Situation ‘handled‘ after suspicious online activity involving student

School officials say agencies responded early Wednesday to reinforce campus safety.

UPDATE: The Pulaski County School District confirmed Wednesday the student involved in the threat lives in Wilcox County but attends school in Pulaski County.


UPDATE: The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office classified the incident as a “possible threat” involving a Pulaski County student. Deputies say the student involved was taken into custody before reaching any campus.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a post. “However, at this time, all students are safe and there is NO current threat to any Pulaski County school.”


HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Law enforcement agencies responded early Wednesday after officials became aware of suspicious activity connected to a student.

According to a Facebook post from Pulaski County Schools, officials were notified at 6:40 a.m. through monitoring conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on the Discord platform. The district said the situation was “handled swiftly” before 7 a.m.

According to the post, the response involved the GBI, local 911, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, the school resource officer and the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.

Pulaski County Schools said that, out of an abundance of caution, local law enforcement officers and the Georgia State Patrol were present on campus to reinforce safety and security.

“The safety of our students and staff is always our utmost priority,” the district said in the post, thanking the agencies involved and mentioning the continued monitoring of online platforms such as Discord.

The district did not release details about the nature of the suspicious activity or whether any charges are expected.
