Pontoon Boat Overturn near I-75

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man overturned his pontoon boat near I-75, Monday.

The accident happened around 2 p.m., on the entrance ramp near exit 187.

Forsyth Police said no one was injured in the accident, and there were no other cars involved in the incident.

Police did not issue the driver a citation.

However, the officer warned when people are towing a boat or anything else, they need to be mindful of how fast you’re driving.

“This gentleman was driving north on North Lee Street, trying to get on I-75, south bound,” said Forsyth Police Officer, Derek Bray. “He just bought this pontoon boat in South Carolina, and was just trying to get it home. But, it looks like he took the turn maybe a little faster than he should have. A combination of that and it being new equipment to him, well, you can see what happens.”

Officer Bray added drivers should know how to properly secure anything they’re towing.

They should also be aware of twists and turns of the roadways they are traveling.
