Plans for Hyatt in downtown approved to move forward
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb is steps closer to the $166 million dollar project that would bring 413 new jobs, a Hyatt hotel, multiple parking garages and a hundreds of new loft units to downtown.
Managing partners Tim Thornton and Miller Heath announced on Wednesday that they received approval to from Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning to move forward with construction on Central City Commons.
“We’re going to be building almost 800 parking spaces which will then allow parking for the auditorium, which we think there’s going to be a natural synergy between a hotel and the bars.”
Heath says the project will not only make parking and visiting easier, but it’ll also add to the night life atmosphere in downtown.
“We’re already in discussions with a wine bar to take up one of the retail spaces so it’s gonna be exciting,” he continued.
Heath says they’ve submitted all the paper work and been approved through the county government. They’ll begin construction toward the end of this summer.
