Perry Police, Georgia Revenue agents uncover underage vape, tobacco sales at six businesses

ID compliance checks reveal violations in Perry; citations issued to employees and business owners

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Perry Police Department, in collaboration with special agents from the Georgia Department of Revenue Alcohol and Tobacco Division, conducted ID compliance checks on Tuesday, resulting in violations at six businesses.

According to a news release from the Perry Police Department, the compliance checks targeted businesses selling vape and tobacco products. Out of nine businesses inspected, six sold vape or tobacco products to an underage individual without requesting valid government identification.

The businesses found in violation are:

  • Whispers Vapor, 745 Main Street, Perry, Georgia
  • Perry Food Mart, 719 Carroll Street, Perry, Georgia
  • Perry Tobacco and Vapor, 322 Perry Parkway, Perry, Georgia
  • Shop and Go, 1114 Macon Road, Perry, Georgia
  • Smoke Shop, 1365 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Georgia
  • Smoke Shop Guru, 1506 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Georgia

Citations were issued to the employees who sold the products to individuals under 21 years of age. Additionally, the Georgia Department of Revenue issued administrative citations to the respective business owners.

The Perry Police Department and the Georgia Department of Revenue plan to continue conducting random compliance checks at businesses in Perry that sell alcohol, vape and tobacco products to ensure adherence to Georgia law prohibiting sales to those under 21.
