Perry man sentenced to 30 years for meth trafficking, firearms found in home
Investigators say a tip led to controlled buys and a search of Edward Evans III’s home, where police found meth and firearms. He was sentenced as a recidivist.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Houston County man was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, according to a news release from the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.
44-year-old Edward Evans III of Perry, was convicted Monday in Houston County Superior Court. Judge Katherine K. Lumsden sentenced Evans to 30 years, with the first 12 years to be served in prison without parole and the remaining 18 years on probation. The sentencing followed a plea agreement with the State.
Evans’ case was scheduled to go to trial the same day.
According to the district attorney’s office, the charges stem from a Perry Police Department investigation in March and April 2024. Investigators received a tip from an informant and conducted controlled buys at Evans’ home, which confirmed he was distributing drugs from the home. A search warrant executed on April 17, 2024, uncovered 32 grams of methamphetamine and several firearms in Evans’ bedroom.
Evans was sentenced as a recidivist because of previous felony convictions for aggravated assault, possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. That status requires his prison time be served without the possibility of parole.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Mike Smith.
