Perry- Houston County airport feature World War II planes at open house

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former military planes and trucks used durng war time were on display during the Fifth Annual Open House at Perry-Houston County Airport.

People climbed in World War II planes, took pictures of bombers and explored the inside of military vehicles. For some it was their first time getting to peak inside war planes. But veterans say the planes brought back memories of their service in the military.

The display of former military trucks and planes were part of the airport’s open house, according to the organizer of the event, Patsy Goff.

“You can tour them you can sit down, you don’t actually have to fly in them,” says Goff. “We just want to promote aviation within the community.”

GOFF says because of the cold weather and high winds on Saturday, attendance for the annual event was much lower than organizers were expecting. The bad weather, also grounded most of the helicopter and airplane rides.
