Perry businesses hope to benefit from Independence Day parade celebration

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Perry’s parade was successful–big crowds usually bring lots of business.

A big event changes business in downtown Perry.

It goes from a quiet string of shops to a hopping place.

The big event Sunday? The Independence Day parade celebration.

It’s a little early for July 4th festivities, but for the Coffee Cup downtown, it’s a chance to support the community.

“We’re just trying to help our community out, serve them some drinks and refreshments–tell them that we’re an active part of the community this week and that we really care about what we’re doing,” said server Matthew Salter.

The restaurant isn’t usually open on Sundays, but for the parade, they’re aiming to make money.

“Just because everyone here there’s not really much to do in Perry and when there is something to do like a parade or fireworks everyone comes out and we all turn out, and it’s just like a big ‘ol family here,” said Salter.

Across the street from the Coffee Cup is Yes! It’s Consignment.

It’ll be open too.

“We decided that we’re gonna help the people out–let them come in and get some bargains and they’re gonna help us out. The way the economy is, we can use it at anytime,” said store associate Dot Monahan.

Anytime–especially Sunday.

“Yeah, some of the weekdays can be kinda slow down here, so we’re hoping that all the people that are gonna come to town for the fireworks and the festivities–even for just the few hours we’re open–will bring a huge amount of economy in for the store,” said Monahan.

It’s a big crowd with some big business to possibly be had–in a quiet string of shops.

Head on down to downtown perry to enjoy what all of these businesses have to offer.

41NBC is happy to host the parade–check out a broadcast of the full parade Friday for the Fourth of July.
