Peach County Detention Officer arrested on sexual assault charges

PEACH COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Peach County Detention officer was arrested on Wednesday for having sexual contact with an inmate.

The Peach County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to assist with the investigation. 43 year old Nicholas Hughley has been charged with two counts of #16-6-5.1 (b) (3) Sexual Assault and #16-10-1 Violation of Oath by a Public Officer.

Both charges are felonies. The sexual assault charge can possibly sentence Hughley between 1 and 25 years. The violation of oath by a public officer charge can possibly sentence him between 1 and 5 years.

Hughley worked for the sheriff’s office for a year.
