Organizers prepare for even bigger Christmas Light Extravaganza

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Downtown Macon’s Christmas Light Extravaganza is soon to be back and better than ever this year with more lights, more space and more activities.

Organizers say this year they’re expanding the display from two city blocks and 250,000 lights to four city blocks and around 500,000 lights.

Volunteers have been working tirelessly to get it all ready for opening night on November 30th.

Creator Bryan Nichols says it’s all about giving community members something to smile about.

“You know it’s one thing for the community to get together but it’s another thing for the community to get together in the holidays. But to watch the community in the middle of the street having a good time together it just makes it all worth while–watching the kids smile, watching the older people dance, ” Nichols said.

They’ve also got a full line up of events through out the months starting with a live concert featuring the Macon Pops on November 30th.
