‘Operation Wrong Exit’ in Twiggs County leads to 62 arrests
A multi-agency law enforcement operation in Twiggs County over the weekend resulted in 62 arrests, including 24 felonies.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A multi-agency law enforcement operation in Twiggs County over the weekend resulted in 62 arrests, including 24 felonies.
Sheriff Darren Mitchum led Operation Wrong Exit on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15, in an effort to reduce automobile crashes, injuries and fatalities in the area.
The operation, supported by 80 officers from multiple agencies across the state, resulted in 31 DUI offenses, 15 suspended drivers and the apprehension of five wanted fugitives. Other violations included 11 open container citations, 23 misdemeanor drug offenses and 18 felony drug arrests involving methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, heroin and 11 pounds of marijuana, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post on Monday.
“One significant arrest involved a mother and daughter trafficking 6 kilograms of Methamphetamine,” the post said.
The operation also yielded 160 additional citations for other offenses.
Assisting agencies included the Georgia State Patrol, Dublin District Attorney’s Office, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and multiple sheriff’s offices from across the state.
