Open Streets Macon hosts a community cookout and conversation Thursday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Open Streets Macon is hosting a community cookout Thursday July 22, 2021, and is inviting those who are eager to see Macon streets in a different light.

Open Streets Macon is working in cooperation with Bike Walk Macon, and other organizations from the North Highlands and Shirley Hills Neighborhoods to show residents what they believe streets could be.

The cookout on Thursday is being hosted from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Highland Hills Baptist Church in the courtyard. They will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and other refreshments, and if you sign up to be a volunteer for Open Streets Macon you will receive a free T-shirt.

At the cookout, Open Streets Macon plans to speak about an event they’re planning on September 12, where they will close the streets in the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail area to traffic and use the streets as a place for walking, bicycling, dancing, and playing.
