One person killed after being hit by truck

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Forsyth Road at North Wellington around 9:30 this morning.  69-year-old John Phillips of Macon was jogging down Forsyth Road. Deputies say when Phillips tried to cross Forsyth Road at North Wellington he was hit by a truck.

Authorities say the person behind the wheel, 35 year old Aundra Macklin was operating a truck owned by the Chambers Petroleum Company.

Witnesses at the scene tell deputies Phillips ran out in front of the truck.

Phillips was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where he was pronounced dead.

The accident is currently under investigation and no charges have been made at this time.
