One man shot, another beaten at Fort Valley apartment complex

FORT VALLEY,Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Fort Valley man is in jail after police say he pistol whipped a man and shot another one.

Twenty-year-old Markes Dassau is charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, and parole violation.

Fort Valley Police Captain Jerrell Smith says Dassau attack two men in Indian Oaks Apartment Complex Tuesday around 12:45 p.m.

Smith added Dassau kicked the door in of apartment 5-E, and demanded money. When he did not get any cash from 20-year-old Shelton Saffold, investigators say Dassau began beating Saffold with a gun.

“After interviewing some of the witnesses, Mr. Dassau went to the apartment, where he assaulted one gentleman that was already inside the apartment,” explained Smith. “Mr. McGhee showed up shortly after that where he was subsequently shot.”

Captain Smith says Dassau shot 25 -year-old Anthony McGhee in the chest. McGhee remains in stable condition at a Macon hospital, according to Smith.

Detectives are working to determine the relationship between the three men.
