One dead in Macon house fire; four escape
UPDATE (8/30/2017) – The Macon-Bibb Fire Department says the house fire that killed a Macon man started in his bedroom. The investigator on the case says the home is a one-story home and the fire department still doesn’t know what caused the fire.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is dead after his house caught fire Tuesday afternoon in Macon.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Charlie Hollingsworth was unable to escape his home at 1200 Duncan Avenue. Four other people in the home were able to escape without injures.
The cause of the fire, which began around 5:15 p.m. is unknown. The Macon-Bibb Fire Department is investigating.
One firefighter on the scene told 41NBC the fire department didn’t have enough time to save Hollingsworth.
