One dead in Ocmulgee River drowning

JULIETTE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a drowning on Ocmulgee River Saturday afternoon.

It happened near Juliette.

An emergency call came in around 2:15 p.m. from a witness reporting a possible drowning.

When emergency personnel arrived, witnesses had already pulled the person from the river.

The person was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The person’s name and other identification is being withheld until his or her next-of-kin is notified.
